So the remotes are up boxs are not on the houses yet but soon we will have DSL and digi cable TV

http://www.bledsoe.net/oldsite/adslsignup.html
I cant wait!

so 95$ setup fee and after that 55$ a month for service not to bad but I need a modem ,whats a good under 100$ versatile ADSL modem?

I cant wait to get away from hughes net I hate their fapping guts one minute going along nicely then boom reconnection or reboot of modem reset by their sever (takes 2-5min for modem to connect to the net)to top it off they they didn't put me on the special I signed up for and have been charging me 30 more a month.

130 a month (400 down) for a service half that of comcast or even bellsouth..........I am counting the minutes!

*dances around*

I pay 100 euro (~130usd) a month for a skimpy little 3mbps connection. Offpost you can get a 16mbps connection for only 40EUD. You don't have much to complain about.

lucky I'd take that over this sat net 120KBS down 15 up and a 400MB fap it has me fcked,if it was a constant 120KBS with outages only being legit hardware and connection issues not them "adjusting the line" then I could bear it with out poking my eyes out.

hell 60/10KBS at 90 a month would be better....oh well in a month or so it shall beess done....so while I wait I need to find a good ADSL modem the Co op offers a 130$ modem I know you can get good ones cheaper so I need some direction ^^

Do you really know what you're saying when you keep saying fap (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fap)?

....well just saying cat5 is more handy currently and less a hassle than wi fi and its cheap so it needs to go with the fiber if he wants fiber.

Fair access user police AKA FAP,after 300-400MB of constant data transfer you are placed into a BUCKET (http://www.copperhead.cc/fap.htm).

it can be very annoy since they don't have to follow the rule they have in place,I have been faped and reset for doing 100MB over 30-40 min and had the modem off for a soiled 10 hours before it.

BTW since most of the net dose not support ressume I can run into 50MB+ of junk data meaning something somewhere disconected and I have to start over.

sat net is rather impressive once you take the FAP system out of the equation, leave it in and ti can be hard for someone that is a heavy net user,he lag is as bad as dial up maybe a tad worse.

all in all its only a option if you have half a brain and dailup is just a pain you can not bear..and you have 100 month for it...

$55/month USD???

I pay $45/month CDN, which is like $35 US. And the modem is included... for 5mbps

Is this why americans think that NetZero is a viable option? Because your broadband prices are so high?

if you think thats bad
comcast 6MB cable is 60$ by itself or 90$ with basic TV
Bellsouths plans are 256/128 threw 6MB-512 are 25$-42$

and since their icy grip on telecom/cable ends with the mountain the local power/phone co op's spent a extra 7 or so years to get DSL to where I am right now...and tis stil not in yet...so its 60$ a month for DSL or 130 a month for sat net.

how are the rural spots in Canada? did the gov get off tis arse and get the corporations in motion or let them tripple charge at frist and then lower the price a buck every few years hie working to improve bandwidth in larger cities letting everything else slide till there was enough line in the ground to add n another town....god forbid they use the money for anythign but CEO hand outs....

No, my other option is to pay even more for dial-up.

In Saskatchewan, most small towns now get 1.5mbps min. and you can get 5mbps in the larger communities. I think they just add towns to the higher bw as they slowly expand the fiber network. That's just DSL though, I doubt Shaw has done much to upgrade it's network...

Wireless broadband is also taking off a lot here. Sask Wheat Pool just signed a deal to set up wireless towers at their inland-terminals (since they're already really tall), so farms and acreages that want broadband don't need to spend tens of thousands laying new line out to the house.

ya that was looked at but turned down, its being used here and there but still it seems your more likely to get wired DSL than anythign else if you don't have it yet.

and to think the asain countries pulled it off faster cheaper and got the corporations to do something about it however most of the asain countries are smaller so *L*

Concentration of population helps, less backbone wiring to lay. ;)

They're also investing heavily in wireless broadband so the more outlying areas can get online too.
