Anyone else have it?
This game is totally nuts...if, during the end game you only have 300 units...be prepared to say "Tonight we dine in hell".
However, if a guy amasses a huge army, smashes your base to pieces, but forgets to protect his "King" (the Commander unit) you can still win with a powerful enough wing of bombers/gunships.
Personally, I enjoy it and will probably like it better than C&C since C&C doesn't have a relgious fanatic clensing the universe faction. I mean, there's NOD but it's really just a personality cult.

I suck at RTS games. Which really sucks for me because I love the concept of playing them. Especially Homeworld...

I know exactly what you mean. The fact that I missed out on a game as awesome as Homeworld (And SupCom here) makes me cry at nights.

Gosh, your so lucky freman. My computer cant handle this game. I have heard nothing but good things about supreme commander. I think this game already has C&C 3 beat. I think they annouced they put in a 3rd alien race in to C&C.

depends on what RTS I LOATH LOATH LOATH micro manigment
Warcraft I like because I have the ability to adjust time and bring the game into my speed however WC3 the AI is dumb as dirt in SC they cheat almost as well as humans do ^_~
All RTS's need speed adjusting so the user can keep up.
My friend whos a WC/C&C/WH nut played C&C3 demo......I'll admit demos today suck because the games are less but the demo dose sux....

I agree zippy, even those with integrated graphics can zoom out to where the map is rendered in 2d, but no matter what card you have there will be slowdown with all settings on max. on the other hand, you don't miss much with things on low or medium since you pretty much have to play a bit zoomed out.
micromanagement usually is an issue with me, but in this game, all the units have quaes (however u spell it...) for commands...even before it's built! so while my naval yard is under construction, i tell it to upgrade to tech lvl 2 and then build 2 engineers. the minute 1 engineer is done its icon pops up on the left side since all idle engineers do that. now, i can say repair that, then that, then build aa, then build resource gathering....not sure what the limit is, seems like 10 or so.
Doesn't seem to be much in the way of formations but that doesn't bother me...you also can issue attack orders in a row, so after your bombers kill one AA turrent they'll move on to the next until they're gone....
Really it's the first time i played one of these and felt in total control, like the only limit to my strategy is my imagination rather than the game designer.
also, in the campaigns so far it hasn't been "What is it the developers want me to do in order to succeed?" it's been up to me to find a strategy that works, rather than guessing how to solve a puzzle.

if I was not under a fap I would try the demo NAO.

I haven't had a long period of time to play, but what I've gotten into so far is freaking amazing. I have to play it almost completely zoomed out, though. Not because of performance issues, my computer can handle this beast just fine, but if I zoom in, I get too distracted by the initial combat in my face, that I fail to notice a wave of bombers OMGWTFBBQPWNing my Commander. Stupid nifty graphics.
as soon as i read 'From the makers of Total Annihilation' i knew it would be a fantastic game. as soon as i can i will be good

I got it...so....since the tutorial tells you nothing about how to play the game and it dosent have button mapping so you know what the buttons are...can someone give me some tips?
BTW can you patrol+repair or automate repair any?

The depths of what you can automate are pretty amazing. However, figuring out how to set up certain automation is a pain in the ass... not to mention when you play like I do and have a 1000 unit army and like 15 monkey lords supported by 2 flying gun ships... yeah.... I build lots of buildings and hide my commander. Oh yeah... I also tend to launch nukes in salvos of 10... because I am a bastard.
Sup com will rule just because of all the mods that will be made for it.

kinda stuck ont eh first map gettign use to the game plus its a bit more ....."complex" than I like my RTS War craft 2 spoiled me so much so far Sup com feels kinda bland I miss the unit banter you find in more simple RTS's....
BTW can you have a commander do auto repairs?
kinda got lost building bases on it too, spamming out blockades with a squad of builders...not to mention turrets.... I am turret happy *L*
I also have not had time to sit down and play the game a lot so I am still learning it.

Meh I usually put up some level 2 turrets to deal with skirmishers then get power up as fast as possible then start building mass generators. The only problem is that the units all seem so similar. They attack differntly but the end result of an attack from a unit of a different faction is the same.
Then get me tons of builders. Then a shield and a few engineers to help my com upgrade then once I have 30 to 40 builders I start on my mass super unit builds and then mad rushes and bombers yay!!!
However I bought it for the mods not the original game.

ALWAYS use different tactics for the different maps. Some maps require a level 1 rush, others require turtle-ing. I heart nukes and lvl 3 bombers.
