I was going thru some of my older games and popped Q2 into the comp and you know..its still a fun and enjoyable game, the music is so neat I made MP3s out of it,its so different than the bland and linear Q4!
All Q4 has over Q2 is a better thought out story and graphics the designs are lacking...

I cant seem to find my Q1 CD,I wanted to play wif it to.

Want to dig up Blood and Duke 3d as well :3

hmm... I should dig my copy of Quake 1 up and reinstall it sometime, it had some great mods made for it. (airquake, target quake, quake rally etc.) Quake II was good (Eraser bots!) though I don't think it saw as much modding as Q1 or Doom.

I liked Q2's soundtrack, absolutely hated Q1's. Sorry, but the whole random creepy noises thing just doesn't work for me, thank god the game could play any CD found in the drive!

And from the look of it, old Q1 still has a bit of a following these days. I think I'll go dig the disc up now and see if I can get the thing to run under windows.

With regards to running Quake under windows, download something like FuhQuake or GLQuake.

I have a launcher on an old magazine coverdisc. Next time I'm at home, I might dig it out.

Insulting the sheer beauty of Trent Reznor's brillant dark ambient score? Sheer blasphemy. I vote that Kharne should be immediately tracked down, captured, and messily sacrificed to Shub-Nigguarath.

I am not a fan of abmusic (ambient music ) I prefer the age old heart pounding or thrilling tracks from DOOM,duke and BLood, however even tho I have mixed feeligns about Q1 abmusic it is good....I just like DOOMs mix of music types...it was alot neater...

What score? I've been through Q1's CD, the soundtrack consists of a decient title track, then several minutes of random creepy noises.

Ok, I admit, it's random creepy noises fit to a specific theme to go with the level, but random creepy noises all the same. Does it work? Sure, but that's about it, nothing memorable here.

I remember the creppy noise/music for the 2nd level it reminds me of a scooby doo swamp music 0-o I also recall the whispering track but thats it.

The second track is The Life Beneath it All. The whispering track is Conscience, which is probably one of the creepiest songs ever made that does not rely on a music video of packs of little girls with the faces of grown men stalking grandmothers through a abandoned city.
