So VF is being watched now for the next Gill, like MySpace is watched for school-aged school shooters?
I wonder if someone is secretly watching that Metal Gear Solid group or some WoW blog/site to see if they can catch possible suicides.
People just love to link this, that or the other thing to whatever they want to just so they'll have a scapegoat or two.

Hrmm, no word of anything involving that on the VF main page... But then again, they seem to have gotten off that subject quite a while ago. And I've never really checked too much into the boards... The times I have, way long ago... Well, they're boards aren't set up to well. Or at least weren't. They seemed rather disorganized.
But yeah. Interesting... I guess this just gives the government more reason to watch over our every move, eh?
Your link is misleading.
But it if is true, I'm going to feel compelled to start up a fake VF page and say how I'm going to blow up my local Wal-Mart.

Jesus, now I'll be extecting police at my door thinking I'm a racist nazi because I listen to Rammstein, who happens to be german, or my page has flames as a background, they can see me as a pyromaniac, I listen to various metal bands, so I coudl also be a possible suicide or I coudl go shooting up a school. I must be a time bomb waiting to go off *gasp* But I haven't and I doubt I will *ultra mega gasp* they must know something I don't. Hmm, and it's the same with my myspace[ya, i got an account..... I WAS CURIOUS] so I'm a shoe in for Jack Thompson to make soem moeny off me, because I own an Xbox and a copy of GTA, oh ****, i'm a murderer.[sarcasm]
I love beign sarcastic.

How is it misleading?
More than once have school officials and/or police officials reported that several MySpace users have been arrested/suspended because of sting operations or trolling pages on MySpace. In a sense, this is what is happening on VF. It seems to just be starting out, but the attention after one or two "links" to MySpace was all it took for authority figures to start pointing fingers at MySpace itself.

Yeah, someone linked to the NYC kid who was reprimanded for speaking out against an incompetant principal. Not saying anything threatening, mind you.

When I said misleading I meant the link doesn't lead to a story. I guess I used the wrong word.
All I see is three links to other news stories and an 'Ads By Google' advertisement.

That's.... strange.
I originally got the link from www.thetrenchcoat.com (http://www.thetrenchcoat.com) .
It's under the Other News blog on Oct 6th.
But when you do a search on the 940 website, it's gone (but it had been there).
And I can show that it's been there by going to Google News, Advance Search, and searching "gill wannabe". It's the only site that pops up for it. But when you hit the link, it does the same thing, no story.
I wonder if they realized they received false info and pulled the story, or what?

Ok, thanks to Trench on thetrenchcoat.com, here is a replacement story.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2006/10/06/qc-ileperrot.html
In this story, the police refuse to name the sites they did the sting on. Perhaps that's why 940 pulled the story.
But, if you go to google news, advanced search, and search first:
"gill wannabe" you get:
An 18-year-old Kimveer Gill wannabe busted in Ile Perrot (http://www.940news.com/locale.php?news=3096)
940 News, Canada - Oct 6, 2006
An 18-year-old Ile Perrot man, who allegedly admired Dawson Shooter Kimveer Gill, has been arrested for making hateful and racist comments on various internet ...man, who allegedly admired Dawson Shooter Kimveer Gill, has been arrested for making hateful and racist comments on various internet ...
The cbc story mentions "An 18-year-old Ile Perrot man," which is mentioned above in the 940 summary.
Then, seach google news advanced search for "vampirefreaks.com" and you get:
Kimveer Gill wannabe busted in Ile Perrot (http://www.940news.com/locale.php?news=3096)
940 News, Canada - Oct 6, 2006
... following the Dawson shooting. He allegedly posted messages on vampirefreaks.com applauding Kimveer Gill. The teenager also posted ...
Which is the same 940 story. Clicking the link, of course, shows nothing. But apparently Google has a cache of it.
So 940 must have gotten in trouble over revealing which site the police were doing the sting on.
