Here's the deal...
Last September we went to the Wordpress format for GP...
It was a move I had to make (long story, if you've been here you know why)...
But I'm not real happy with it. The Wordpress thing is pretty sensitive and my skills are not high level, so I'm afraid to mess with it.
The old site was HTML based, with the LiveJournal blog embedded. I like that very much. I was able to place graphical polls, a news ticker, ads and all kinds of cool stuff on there. The new format is too texty, I think.
My only problems with the old site:
- I couldn't IP ban through LJ
- Google couldn't crawl through the embedded LJ
Here's what I am looking for:
- a nice blog that can be embedded inside an HTML design
- allows Google indexing
- no "back door" for trolls, such as entering thru LJ
I thought I would ask this in here first before putting it out to the masses...
Any ideas?

I can't help with that. (I really wish I could.) But I do have some questions.

Are you thinking of using a new blog? or since you mentioned LJ are you thinking of moving back to that format?
Anyway I can try an online search and see what happens.

Have you talkeed to Hal? He could probably hook you up.
What you want is basically any complete content management system. There's Mambo/Joomla, Drupal, and so on.
All of those can be intergrated.

I've seen sites before that link their blog's to the forums, and it was done using vB. I hate to link to this site, but www.absolutepunk.net does it. The comments stay in the forums, which is nice because that's easy to manage for banning, and it can be indexed by google. I don't know anything about where to find the code or how to implement it, but yeah...

I think they used the Drupal intergration, since that's by far the easiest thing to do. Joomla/Mambo can be done, but is back-breaking work.

I highly suggest hiring KN as a designer for your blog. Just look at ZLF...This forum and that one are both VB, but they are nearly indistinguisable.
KN is an AWESOME haxx0r and could make you a blog.
Actually, Nux skinned it. I did everything else. I didn't like the Drupal intergration that much for ZLF, but I think this was because I forced it to use the vB skin. If a normal skin was used it could work out pretty nicely.
Joomla is still very much superior though.

Please go into greater detail. They sound entertaining.
Please go into greater detail. They sound entertaining.
*Ban a user from one particular thread
*Make a user think the server is down/really slow
*Redirect a user to an url whenever they visit the forum
Default vB features that no one ever thought of using:
*Tachy Goes to Coventry: Makes all of a user's posts completely invisible to anyone but himself and mods.
There's moar, but these are just the banhammer upgrades
I know I'm a new member, but I was reading through the forums and thought I'd interject:
I'm currently putting together a political-video-game-related website with Joomla, and it's working wonderfuly. I've been web designing for quite a while now, but I'd be willing to bet it'd be rather easy for anyone to pick up.
Wordpress is very poor for a news based website like this. Joomla would suit your needs MUCH better. If you'd like help setting it up and deciding which extensions to use, message me from my profile messanger names!
Good luck.

KN just showed me what I Was trying to talk about.
Check in OT, there's a thread I made asking KN about vB and he pointed me to something called vBAdvanced which I believe holds the solution.
