I dunno lets skip the odd subject matter for a moment and look at the game paly it dosent seem to bad,if any Christ-Dev had the balls I would like to see a no kill FPS or 3rd person basically using all kinda of stun and incapacitating weapons,of coarse it would boiled down to good cult vrs bad cult but I can see Christan themes begin used in games but not destroying it however like someone said Tie in games suck without alot of polish on the details of the game/game play.

any thoughts or comments on the C-game or Non violent game genre?

The "-ing" rule.

When words have silent e's at the end of them, and you need to add the suffix "ing", in most cases, the "e" is dropped entirely and replaced by "ing".

Such is the case in a word like "Gaming" where the word "Game", which has a silent e at the end, loses said "e" in exchange for an "ing" suffix.

This has been another lesson in grammar brought to you by Theory?.

Tribulation Knights looks pretty lame, in my opinion. I don't have a problem with the concept of Christian-themed games -- there are plenty of cool ones based around Greek/Roman/Norse mythology, after all -- but why do they always have to suck?

If I -- an athiest/agnostic, just in case you care -- was going to develop a Christian-themed game, I would approach it differently. For one thing, I would borrow heavily from stories in the bible, and I wouldn't dumb them down. Yes, this would guarantee the game an M rating, but it would be worth it. There are a lot of good stories in that book.

I would also avoid any direct quoting of scriptures except perhaps in loading screens or other such interludes. Seriously, it detracts from the immersion, and it doesn't actually add anything to the game. I guess they just do it to make everything seem more Christian, but... well... it should be obvious what the game is about without resorting to such techniques. I don't want to see Lovecraft quotes randomly peppering a Lovecraft-themed game, even as an option in the interface, so why should Christian games (and game servers, for that matter) be so glutted with irrelevant bible verses?

Another thing that I'd do is make the heroes heroic. I don't want to play a game where the protagonist is a considerably lamer version of Ned Flanders, and I doubt many others do either. If you're trying to make a game with some kind of moral message, you typically don't want people rooting for the sexy and totally badass forces of evil as they beat up your whiny and safe-to-bring-home-to-mommy hero. The bad guys can still be a bit sexy (it kinda comes with the territory when you're evil), but at least make the hero less bland and boring.

Zippy, have you tried the new Firefox? It has a spellchecker built in, so misspelled words are automatically underlined in red, much like in Word. It's not perfect, but I've found that it helps me catch typos a lot more frequently.

well if you want to hash story and theme, its no worse than anything in fiction ,like anything else it takes skill to make a good medium,I don't think any of the current C-devs are skilled enough to bring a C themed game into the mainstream,I look at gameplay first this game and others of its ilk are weak in first and foremost,Christian myths have alot of great story's of coarse since they took out the pictures in the bible....Christian themed games are probably doomed to start with....
