Looks like those PS1 games you could buy off the Sony store on your PS3 are actual game ISOs, compressed into a .pbp file. And it looks like that's been reversed to allow for any PS1 game to be played on PSP.

Well, gentleman, the time has finally come where the PSP shows just why I got it. Besides the good games it already has, the ENTIRE FREAKING PS1 GAME LIBRARY is about to be available. You have a PS1 game you wanna play on the go? Rip it onto your computer and convert it (as soon as the converter's released, apparently tomorrow (later today)).

Personally, I'm going for Xenogears, Tomba!, Silent Hill, Castlevania... So many others... Probably both Megaman Legends games... Probably the good X games... Hey, maybe I'll even take the time to finally play through Final Fantasy 9. Or 7 for that matter.

The sheer number of excellent games about to be completely available is mind boggling. Makes me excited for Christmas again, to be honest :)

*eyes the 1 analogue stick warily*

I doubt the emu will be that simple, given ps3 support for ps2 games.

And just getting more old games won't help the PSP that much. They need an influx of new, quality games that fit the system (like the DS), not more ports.

Though, it will give access to a bunch of old games that are nearly inaccessible now.

I can't wait till I can start playing it! I'm definitly getting the Persona games. And I've been dying to play Legend of Dragoon again (friend lost the first disc...).

Persona? thats coming to psp?

The guy who makes those games tends to make them really wierd. Like Digital Devil Saga.

I'm not willing to pay $130USD to play Valkyrie Profile (http://www.amazon.com/Enix-America-Corp-Valkyrie-Profile/dp/B00004WMQB/sr=8-5/qid=1167064043/ref=pd_bbs_5/105-5855639-1501226?ie=UTF8&s=videogames), or even $53USD for Persona (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_vg/105-5855639-1501226?url=search-alias%3Dvideogames&field-keywords=persona), when I can easily download it for $5-$10USD AND play it on my PSP.

If you think you can make me jealous of a PSP you're on something really good and you should tell me what it is and where I can get some.

About the lack of analog sticks, not many PS1 games actually required both, if any at all. So that should still work. And as for the lack of L2 and R2, those are just mapped to the analog nub (or if you have the nub set to work the d-pad, then to the d-pad), and that works just fine for the majority of games.

Eh, and yeah, the PSP could use some more of it's own good new games (MGS:PO rocks, by the way), having some of these older games really doesn't hurt. I just finished converting Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which is one of the games I've always wanted to be portable, anyways, so it's all good for me.

"Hey look, I can play games I already own on an overpriced, dying handheld for an extra 5-10 bucks!"

The sad thing is that you can do the same on the Wii, only it costs about 10% less (if you convert points to dollars) and you don't have to play it on a screen that gives you ocular AIDS.

I own a cube, box, ps2, and DS. I'm MS only on the PC side, but I also do tech support as my job, as well as administration of Sharepoint.

And the only PS1 game I'd love to get my hands on is the first Klonoa. I just think the PSP is a waste of money. Especially since playing console games on a handheld is pointless because they were not built for the same gameplay timing. And if it's already loaded on the PS3 why bother putting it on the portable unit?

Sharepoint is the devil... they keep taking away my rights and deleting the stuff i put on our site, forcing me to have to put it back on again.

Though i will have to say i got tired of the PSP, nothing good came out for it soon enough. Then i found my computer... and i just kinda stopped consoling... (that will change once i get my Wii....)

That's your admins, not sharepoint itself. I've found that the best way to run it is: Build, customize, give rights, leave the **** alone until a user needs something added, changed, or fixed.

Yeah. Paying the same for a handheld that costs the same as a newgen console is retarded.

Well, I bought my PSP a while ago. I got some games for it -- loved Daxter, pretty much got bored with the rest. Haven't really found games for it that keep me motivated to play it.

Then I got my DS Lite. And hands down -- my DS Lite is the handheld I grab day in and day out, leaving my PSP to collect dust. I just like the games on the DS Lite more.

Being able to play old PS1 games on my PSP is a little intriguing -- especially since somehow I ended up with 2 CD1's of both my FF7 and FF8 games, which were my favorites on my PS1 (I bet one of my friends back in Tennessee or Germany has a matching set of disc 2's for both). It would only really spark my interest if it had full support for the pause/sleep function of the PSP (so I can pause on the go, and pick up right where I left off). If not, I'm not interested.

I'm reviving this topic cause I wanna play PS1 games on my PSP.

So, does anyone know how it works? Is it possible to download a PS1 game via torrent and play it on PSP?

Also, if I wanted to rip one of my games, how do I do so? Especially for multi-disc games?

Also, how much space will I need? Will a 1GB stick cover it?

A: PS1 games don't play well portably.
B: There are illegal hacks out there.
C: There are illegal rippers out there.
D: The average PS1 game is around 700MB, but any multi-disc titles will have at least 1.4GB of data. A four-discer would have up to 2.8GB.
